[re]design is a relationship building organisation that supports and promotes the practice of sustainable design. We hold innovative, inspirational, accessible events for public and trade audiences throughout the year.

[re]design gatherings range from intimate “show and tell” evenings for designers to exhibitions with tens of thousands of visitors. All our events offer opportunities for like-minded organisations to associate with us.

On our Events page you can find out more about our public, trade and business events, both past and upcoming.

A few of the nice things that people have said about [re]design...

Chalkyvan was a huge hit at our Take A Closer Look weekend.  Loads of positive feedback. Many thanks for another great experience working with [re]design."
Ruth Oakley, Head of Outdoor Events & Education, City of London Festival

"We will only rise to the challenge of climate change if we use everything at our disposal.  Design has a significant role to play. Innovative, environmentally sensitive products and services will help put the UK in a leading position on climate change mitigation. I am pleased to see that the creative work done by [re]design is helping to push the sustainability agenda forward, in  the design industry and with the public, both in the UK and  internationally."
Malcolm Wicks MP, formally the Prime Minister's special representative on international energy issues

“...the layout and product was really exciting and it was a great combination of individual creativity with a clear objective and focus.”
Helen Burridge, Barbican Education Officer.

"100% Design has been lucky enough to work with [re]design for two years running and our audience response to their work has been consistently positive; always cited as a must see within the event. Designers visit 100% Design to be inspired, and Lighten Up engaged our audience by pushing their boundaries and re-setting minimum levels of acceptability in terms of sustainable lighting design. The feature itself was a delightful example of how to re-use everyday materials and apply them in a novel way in order to wow an educated audience, without over extending on resource foot print. Moreover, visitors were particularly impressed by the quality of work on show, with a curated event consisting of a number of high profile as well as up and coming design talent delivering real joy and enthusiasm to 100% Design 2008."
Peter Massey, Exhibition Director, 100% Design London

"Thanks very much for organising the brilliant designers in residence programme at the Design Technology Show in November. Comments from visitors to the stand were very positive – one in particular which stands out was that the demonstrations highlighted the value of design over the application of technology – something which was missing from other stands. The products you brought along for display were great for demonstrating the principles of design, and the designers were wonderful at talking to visitors and answering questions.
I am sure that Practical Action benefited a lot from the collaboration – thanks again, and I hope that this relationship will continue to grow."
Cathryn Gathercole, Education Manager, Practical Action

“The London Design Festival would not be the same without the wide-ranging contributions [re]design have made to the Festival programme over the last five years. Their distinctive approach always delivers quality content, and has a long-lasting and positive impact on everyone, professional or public, that takes part in their events. By approaching the defining issue of our time in a grounded, personal and truly engaging way, [re]design are thought-leaders in the sustainable design arena and an organisation I always enjoy working with and learning from.”
William Knight, Deputy Director, London Design Festival, on [re]design

"Committed, charismatic – and, crucially, professional – Jason and Sarah are two of the most effective eco-warriors I know. They have devoted a huge amount of energy, time and personal resources to foster products that diminish landfill and reduce energy consumption. In so doing, they have parented innumerable designers and fostered many brilliant ideas, particularly through ambitious well-executed exhibitions with a high public appeal – such as the recent Lighten Up, which played to a big audience at 100% Futures. Their books / catalogues are essential reference. And their engaging motto 'good and gorgeous' speaks for itself."
Barbara Chandler, design writer, Homes & Property, London Evening Standard, on [re]design

“A glorious, resourceful and forward-looking approach to design.”
Dr Kate Fletcher, sustainable fashion and textiles innovator, on [re]design

"[re]design has been helping sustainable product designers and makers like Pli since 2003 when we started meeting up with them in a pub in Clapham. The [re]design brand and community has grown exponentially since then, in fact I can't think of another self-supporting initiative in London's design world that has grown so fast or attained such tangible influence in the same time. When I look at where visitors to my business's website come from, the number one referrer has always been [re]design: it really does have deep roots in the design community throughout the UK and further afield.”
Christopher Pett, Pli Design, on [re]design

"Lighten Up advances the message of sustainability one step further into the mindsets of the public and industry. Importantly, it doesn't force the message or make us feel guilty for our consumption but, instead, suggests feasible and desirable alternatives that marry human nature's creative instincts with a different approach and attitude to production. It is no longer about 'newness' of material, but 'newness' of thinking.”
Max Fraser on Lighten Up

"[re]design has clearly secured a fundamental role for itself in the creative community. I am in total support for the initiative. It is cleverly managed and, with skilled marketing and communications, has unleashed some of the UK’s most exciting sustainable design projects.
Lighten Up is the most innovative and stylish lighting project I have seen. No other initiative is showcasing sustainable lighting in the UK as effectively. The calibre and diversity of its exhibits swiftly eliminates the misconception that energy saving lighting is ugly or uninspiring.”
Nancy Baynes, Energy Saving Trust, on [re]design and Lighten Up

“It looks fantastic! Great work. Once again, well done!”
Todd Somerville, NESTA, on Plastic Fantastic?

"I was very inspired to be part of your project and am sure it will have a tremendously positive impact on the hungriest nation in the world! Hats off to you guys – I'm sure the Chinese designers you encourage to improve their ways will have a greater impact on cleaning up the world than many in the West... "
Galahad JD Clark, Terra Plana on Climate Cool By Design

"SIT UP was one of the highlights of the Utterubbish exhibition, showcasing many interesting and innovative ways to design seats. It also inspired a lot of participation from the audience to [re]design their own chairs.”
Jackson Tan, Creative Director, on SIT UP at Utterubbish – feature event of Singapore Design Festival

"CONTAINS was one of the highlights of Design Event 07 and truly engaged with the public in a fun and informative way. [re]design are a great team to work with, pulling out all the stops and consistently delivering high quality events with a smile.”
Karen Stone, Director, Design Event Festival, on CONTAINS

“The best stand here – spot on!”
Frances Sorrell, Sorrell Foundation, on SIT UP at 100% Design

“[re]design exhibited SIT UP, an inventive take on the stories behind the manufacturing process of sustainable seating as part of the first 100% Futures. This was the central feature within 100% Futures and it provided essential commentary on sustainable design solutions and invaluable direction for young designers. We look forward to working with [re]design in the future.”
Peter Massey, Exhibition Director, 100% Design London, on SIT UP at 100% Design

""Not only did I get an enormous amount of positive feedback about the piece I showed in [re]design's SIT UP exhibition at 100% last year, I also received a significant commission from a boutique hotel who – inspired by what they saw on the stand – decided to incorporate the idea of reuse into their own interiors.”
Lou Rota, designer, on SIT UP at 100% Design
